About The Greymont Reading Centre
Our Story
The Greymont Reading Centre started in a small house called “ little Wendy house” in in 2014.
Why?
Sumitra Nydoo, a resident in the area, wanted to give back to her community, so she opened a small library in the parking lot of the Northcliff Piazza Shopping Centre.
WHO?
A journalist by profession, Nydoo did extensive research on early childhood development and realized that so many children were not being adequately stimulated.
gROWTH
Over the years the Centre has evolved into a fully-fledged Resource Centre.
Our Children
Our learners start arriving at 12:30 and are at the Centre until 17:00. All students are assisted with homework. During the week we have short classes for story time, origami, lego and subject talks

Volunteers
Every month we call on volunteers to talk to the children about their professions or hobbies. We want our children to be informed, motivated, and inspired.
Twice a year we have outdoor weeks, where children are taught outside. During this time, they learn about taking care of their environment, including the importance of plants, trees and animals.
